Wrap your head around this balancing act

My love was kind enough to remind me the other day of this simple and beautiful quote. I'm so fascinated by this dualist nature, the two sides of the coin, yin and yang. And if you don't get it, don't worry. I'll (sorta) explain it.

Every subject is really two subjects, with what is wanted on one end of the stick, and the absence of what is wanted on the other end. Sometimes you are a perfect vibrational match to the unwanted end of the stick but you don’t realize it because it feels normal to you. And that is only because it is more usual for you to talk about the problem rather than the solution.
— Abraham Hicks

And then I found this...

“Every day we all have one foot in a fairy tale and the other in the abyss” – Paulo Coelho

Paulo's got a much clearer and yet more dramatic take on the situation. What's his abyss I wonder... The abyss of reality? I think it's the abyss of the universe, metaphorically referring to the real world and all it's variability. The fairy tale is the ideal, dream version we conjure of what we want. And the abyss is the infinite unknown sandbox in which we are to create this reality. Yikes.

We spend our days trapped in both worlds, one foot in each, step by step, bounding (or bouncing) between the two. It's a delightfully dramatic view to take, which shouldn't be a deterrent at all! It just illuminates the grandeur of our life's task. And the simple solution that's ever-present in the construct, that we must maintain balance to survive. Else we crash and burn in the drudgery of the self imposed hyper-real, or never quite gain our footing in the lofty dream space.

Keep walking, just keep swimming, stay upright, if you fall get right back up, on the straight and narrow, one foot after the other, don't stop, don't ever stop.

"Walk the middle way" - Buddha

Until the end of days... Or, you become enlightened (knowing all there is to know). Whichever comes first.

Until then, enjoy the pendulum swings! You'll peak into delicious flights of fancy and crash land in the trenches of the abyss, where reality bites. Each time deriving valuable learning experiences that propel us further along the path. It's all about the path, and being on it, and walking that shit, and enjoying the process. Learn to enjoy the rhythm.

Ups and downs, swings and roundabouts, short strokes and long strokes, but never stopping, always moving forward.

Forwards not backwards, upwards not forwards, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.
